World Environment Day
On the occasion of World Environment Day which is celebrated every year all over the world on 5th June, the Human Rights Council, WICCI Chandigarh organized a webinar.
In the beginning of this enlightening session, Dr. Richa Ranjan, President of Human Rights Council, WICCI( Principal, Swami Devi Dyal Law College) gave a brief knowledge about human rights and its emergence by the universal declaration of human rights(UDHR) in 1948. She then welcomed Mr. Sunil Kumar Chaudhary, Former Registrar,
Haryana, Human Rights Commision, Chandigarh. He shared amazing content about human rights and how they are protected. He explained the constitution and working of Human Rights Commission with some cases on protection of human rights of disabled people, women, children who are forced to do child marriage, people who commit suicide, old people who are not provided pension, and so on. The victims are provided reasonable compensation also. He then threw some light on the devastating effects on ecosystem, forests, purity of water and how these can be overcome by planting plants.
Mrs. Deepika Bahri, Union territory President, Chandigarh Council, WICCI( CEO, Antrajaal, Chandigarh)explained about sustainable living along with not violating human rights.In the end, Mrs. Nidhi Kathuria, Vice-President of Human Rights Council, Chandigarh, devoted thanks to the chief guest, Mr. Sunil Kumar Chaudhary and Mrs. Deepika Bahri. Dr. Richa Ranjan concluded the session by motivating the listeners to achieve the council motto i.e. let’s unite for Human Rights.
