The Simple Trick to Boost Your PC’s Boot Speed

SSDs have been a major boon to the everyday PC user. These have dramatically reduced notebook boot times to an average of 10-12 seconds. This also allows easy access to all your files and applications right after booting, without the need to wait for your desktop to fully load up.

However, if you are not an SSD user and are still stuck with your old SATA HDD, you can still tap into faster boot times. There are many ways to make your PC boot faster – from disabling startup apps to powering on when plugged in. But, the one I’ve found to be most effective is to disable a couple of Windows Services and Cortana.

All you would need to do is press (Win + R) to open the Run dialog box. Here, you need to search for “services.msc”. Once this opens up, you need to disable the service called SuperFetch, and reboot your computer. To disable Cortana, you can use the Windows Settings Menu.

Doing this will dramatically increase your boot speed, and while it won’t be comparable to SSD speeds, it will certainly be a noticeable difference.
