Haryana Brings 33 Home Department Services Under RTS Act
Haryana RTS Act

Chandigarh, June 2026: In a major citizen-centric governance reform, the Haryana Government has brought 33 services of the Home Department under the Haryana Right to Service (RTS) Act, ensuring that citizens receive various government services within a fixed timeframe. The move aims to improve transparency, accountability, and efficiency in public service delivery across the state.

Under the Right to Service framework, government departments are required to provide notified services within prescribed timelines. If officials fail to deliver the service on time without a valid reason, citizens can seek redressal through an appeal mechanism. The latest decision extends these provisions to several services handled by the Home Department, making administrative processes more streamlined and citizen-friendly.

The services covered under the notification include various police-related clearances, permissions, licenses, verifications, and certificates that residents frequently require for employment, business activities, legal procedures, and other official purposes. Bringing these services under the RTS Act is expected to reduce delays, minimize bureaucratic hurdles, and improve public trust in government institutions.

State officials stated that the initiative reflects Haryana’s commitment to good governance and digital administration. By establishing fixed timelines and accountability measures, the government seeks to ensure that citizens do not face unnecessary delays while accessing essential services.

The decision is also expected to benefit businesses and investors by simplifying administrative procedures and enhancing ease of doing business in the state. Governance experts have welcomed the move, noting that time-bound service delivery can significantly improve administrative efficiency.

With the inclusion of these 33 Home Department services, Haryana continues to expand the scope of the Right to Service Act, reinforcing its focus on transparent, responsive, and citizen-oriented governance while improving the overall quality of public service delivery across the state.
