Congress leader Satpal Kaushik has demanded the regularisation of guest teachers in Haryana, alleging that the state government has failed to act despite court orders.
Kaushik said the BJP had promised to regularise guest teachers in its 2014 Assembly election manifesto. He alleged that the government has not fulfilled the commitment despite returning to power for three consecutive terms.
Kaushik Raises Regularisation Demand
According to Kaushik, more than 12,000 guest teachers were appointed during the Congress government in Haryana based on their qualifications. He said these teachers have continued to perform duties similar to those of regular teachers but receive lower pay.
Kaushik also referred to orders of the Supreme Court and the Punjab and Haryana High Court concerning the regularisation of guest teachers. He questioned the government’s decision to challenge the High Court’s directions through a review petition.
Congress Leader Criticises Government Stand
Kaushik alleged that the government’s approach towards guest teachers was unfair. He said the High Court had dismissed the review petition and directed the immediate regularisation of the teachers.
He further claimed that guest teachers have been seeking regularisation for more than two decades and continue to wait for a permanent solution.
Call for Action
Kaushik urged the Haryana government to implement the court directions and provide regular employment to eligible guest teachers.
He said guest teachers perform duties similar to regular teachers while receiving comparatively lower salaries, and called for an end to their long-standing uncertainty.
