VIGILANCE NABS KANUNGO FOR TAKING BRIBE RS.5,000
Chandigarh, September 14: Punjab Vigilance Bureau, today nabbed Kanungo Om Parkash posted at tehsil Nawanshahar, district SBS Nagar red handed accepting bribe of Rs 5,000.
Disclosing this here an official spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said accused Kanungo was arrested on the complaint of Gurmukh Singh of village Mahal Khurd, SBS Nagar district. The complainant has informed the VB that the accused Kanungo was demanding bribe to forward enquiry report regarding his Numbardari case. He further informed that he had already paid Rs. 15,000 to the accused Kanungo and now he was demanding Rs. 5,000 more from him.
After verifying his information, a vigilance team laid a trap and the accused Kanungo was arrested on the spot while taking bribe of Rs. 5,000 more from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.
He informed that a case under section of prevention of corruption act has been registered against him at VB police station, Jalandhar and further investigation is under progress.
