Mandi HRTC Bus

Mandi | July 8: A passenger was injured after a stone crashed through the window of a moving Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) bus in Mandi district. The incident took place on a highway where heavy rain has increased the risk of falling rocks and landslides. The sudden impact created panic inside the bus as passengers tried to understand what had happened.

According to initial reports, the bus was travelling on its scheduled route when a large stone rolled down from the hillside and struck one of the windows. The glass shattered instantly, and the stone entered the bus, hitting a passenger seated near the window. Other passengers quickly came forward to help the injured person.

Injured Passenger Taken to Hospital

Soon after the incident, the bus was stopped and local authorities were informed. The injured passenger was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Officials said the passenger suffered injuries due to the impact of the stone but was receiving medical care. No other passengers were reported injured in the incident.

The accident caused concern among travellers, as the stone entered the vehicle without any warning. Many passengers described the incident as frightening and called for better safety measures on vulnerable roads.

Heavy Rain Increases Risk

Continuous rainfall in Himachal Pradesh has made several mountain roads more dangerous. Heavy rain often loosens rocks and weakens hill slopes. As a result, stones can fall onto roads or hit passing vehicles without warning.

Authorities have already advised people to remain cautious while travelling through landslide-prone areas. Drivers have also been asked to reduce speed and follow traffic advisories issued during the monsoon season.

Officials Appeal for Caution

Following the incident, officials urged travellers to avoid unnecessary journeys during periods of heavy rain. They also appealed to drivers to stay alert, especially on highways passing through hilly stretches where falling rocks remain a major risk.

The latest incident once again highlights the challenges of travelling during the monsoon in Himachal Pradesh. Authorities continue to monitor sensitive routes and are working to improve road safety while ensuring quick assistance in case of emergencies.
