Chandigarh: Several schools in Punjab and Chandigarh received a bomb threat email ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit. The email claimed bombs had been planted in schools, railway stations, and the Prime Minister’s rally venue. It also mentioned Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh and referred to him as a “brother.”
The threatening message triggered an immediate response from police and security agencies. Authorities launched search operations across several locations. They also increased security throughout the region to prevent any possible threat.
Schools Act Quickly After Receiving the Email
School authorities informed the police as soon as they received the email. They evacuated students and staff without delay. Bomb disposal squads and dog squads reached the campuses and carried out detailed inspections.
Officials searched classrooms, playgrounds, parking areas, and nearby buildings. They did not find any explosives or suspicious objects during the initial checks. Even so, security teams continued their inspections as a safety measure.
Parents appreciated the quick action taken by schools and law enforcement agencies. Many schools resumed normal activities only after officials declared the premises safe.
Security Tightened Before the Prime Minister’s Visit
The bomb threat came just before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Punjab and Chandigarh. As a result, police strengthened security across the region.
Authorities deployed additional police personnel at schools, railway stations, bus terminals, and other sensitive locations. Security teams also increased vehicle checks on major roads. CCTV cameras and surveillance systems now monitor important areas around the clock.
The Special Protection Group (SPG), Punjab Police, Chandigarh Police, Railway Protection Force (RPF), and intelligence agencies continue to work together. Their teams monitor every important location connected with the Prime Minister’s visit.
Officials have also tightened security at the rally venue. Visitors will undergo multiple security checks before entering the event.
Cyber Teams Begin Investigation
Cyber experts have started tracing the source of the threatening email. Investigators are examining email records, digital footprints, and technical details to identify the sender.
Officials have not confirmed the motive behind the email. They are investigating whether someone sent the message to create panic or disrupt security arrangements.
In recent years, several schools across India have received similar bomb threats. Most of those cases turned out to be hoaxes. However, police investigate every threat seriously because public safety remains the top priority.
Railway Stations Under Close Watch
The threat also mentioned railway stations. Therefore, railway authorities increased security at major stations across Punjab and Chandigarh.
Security personnel carried out baggage checks and monitored passenger movement closely. Police teams searched platforms, waiting halls, and station premises. Train services continued without disruption, but officials advised passengers to report any suspicious object immediately.
Public Asked to Avoid Rumours
Police have appealed to people not to spread rumours on social media. Officials requested citizens to share only verified information from reliable sources.
Authorities confirmed that search teams have not recovered any explosive devices from the locations mentioned in the email. Even so, they continue to monitor the situation closely.
The investigation remains active, and cyber experts are working to identify the sender. Officials have assured the public that they will take strict legal action against anyone responsible for issuing the threat.
The incident highlights the importance of quick coordination among schools, police, intelligence agencies, and emergency services. Their timely response helped prevent panic and ensured the safety of students, staff, and the public before the Prime Minister’s visit.
