Gurugram: Gurugram Police have registered an FIR after a video allegedly showing a woman assaulting her domestic help inside a high-end residential society went viral on social media.
The video has triggered widespread outrage, with social media users calling for action against the woman seen in the footage.
Police Register FIR
Gurugram Police said they have taken suo motu cognisance of the viral video.
“We have taken suo motu cognisance of the viral video. An FIR has been registered and we are in the process of gathering further details,” said Inspector Sandeep, a spokesperson for Gurugram Police.
The police are now investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Video Circulates on Social Media
The video was reportedly uploaded by a co-worker of the domestic help. The footage appears to have been recorded secretly from near a service lift or staircase area.
The clip was first shared on Instagram before being widely reposted on other social media platforms. Several users tagged Gurugram Police and demanded action against the woman seen in the video.
Domestic Worker Returns Home
According to police, the domestic worker seen in the video has since returned to her hometown.
She has also submitted a written statement requesting that the video be removed from social media platforms.
The police have not disclosed further details about the identities of the people involved.
