Continuous rain in the higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh has created fresh concerns across Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh. Water flowing down from the hills has reached the plains, leading to a flood-like situation in several areas.The rain has continued for the past few days. Chandigarh-Mohali-Panchkula Face Waterlogging
The Chandigarh-Mohali-Panchkula tri-city has also been affected by the heavy rainfall.Several areas have reported waterlogging. River Ravi Forces Suspension of Boat Service
In Gurdaspur, rising water in the River Ravi has created problems for residents living in nearby villages.The boat service to Makora Pattan village has been stopped due to the increase in water levels.The suspension has affected residents of around six villages.For many villagers, the boat service is an important mode of transportation. With the service suspended, people now have to take longer routes for their daily needs and urgent work.The disruption has added to the difficulties caused by the heavy rain.Meanwhile, Pathankot also received heavy rainfall during the night. The district remains among the areas being closely watched because of its location near the hilly region.
Yellow Rain Alert Issued
The weather department has issued a yellow alert for heavy rain in several districts.In Punjab, the alert covers Pathankot, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, Rupnagar, Mohali and Fatehgarh Sahib.Several areas of Haryana are also under the alert. These include Yamuna Nagar, Ambala and Panchkula, along with nearby areas.The alert has added to concerns as water continues to flow from the hills towards the plains.Authorities are likely to continue monitoring rivers, drains and low-lying areas.
