CBSE to allow calculators in board exams for special needs students
The special children who are appearing for the Central Board of Secondary Examination (CBSE) for Classes 10th and 12th are now allowed to use basic calculators from 2020, according to the officials.
The CBSE Controller for the Examination, Sanyam Bhardwaj says in a letter to the school that, “The board has decided to facilitate students under Children with Special Needs (CSWN) category by permitting the use of a simple basic calculator during Class X and Class XII Board examination.,” But he also added that calculators will only be allowed to those students who have already been registered under the CWSN category for the CBSE 2020 examination. And students who want to take the facility have to give a request to their respective schools by January 28th, 2020. The Principals will have to forward it to the regional office of the concerned of the CBSE.
The students who request for the facility should have an appropriate certificate. Earlier the Board held in 2018 allowed specially-abled students to use computers or laptops to write their exams.
