Career Opportunities after B.Tech: Engineering is the most common graduation in which students take up after 12th. They all dream to go for IITs, but due to many reasons they can’t cope up with the IIT, but somehow they manage to take admission to various engineering colleges. And somehow they manage four years and finally graduate after the fourth year of engineering.
According to the information lakh of engineers graduate every year from the various colleges from all over India, but there are only a few who manage to get a job according to the choice. And we have seen so many engineers are unemployed.
But we have so many other options which a B.Tech graduate or we can say an engineer can go for.
IES EXAM
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts exams for the recruitment of engineers every year which is known as Indian Engineering Service (IES). This exam is conducted for techno-managerial posts. The students who are willing to study further and want to work for Indian governments can go for this field. The IES exam consists of three stages- two written papers followed by an interview. The selected candidates are posted in various departments and ministries.
Public Sector Unit
Many Public Sector units or in a layman’s language we can say private companies select candidates on the basis of their GATE score, and there are some companies who take separate exams for the recruitment, like TCS, Coal India Limited (CIL), ISRO and Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC).
Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
The GATE exam is held every year for admission to ME or MTech or Ph.D. courses in the various Indian Institute of Technologies and Indian Institute of Science. The students who want to pursue higher studies can apply for the GATE examination to get admission to the best Institutions of India. The exam is conducted by IITs and IISc. The students can get a job or opt for the research or also they can teach after M.Tech. The GATE is valid for three years. The exams test the understanding of various engineering and science undergraduate subjects.
Common Aptitude Test (CAT)
Common Aptitude Test is the computer-based examination that is conducted every year for admission to the premier Management colleges like IIM or Faculty of Management Studies (FMS). Therefore those students who want to focus on management studies can prepare for CAT and can go to the management colleges for higher studies. The CAT exam tests Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension, Quantitative Ability, Data Interpretation, and Logical Reasoning.
Entrepreneurship
We all have different minds and different ideas, and entrepreneurship is one of the options for those who have different and unique ideas for development. Also, the government helps the unique ideas for start-ups by providing funds and other facilities. There are several schemes as well like Startup India and MUDRA schemes to help such entrepreneurs. And the growth in this field is limitless.
