COVID-19, HRD Ministers ask CBSE to postpone the exam; JEE Main also postponed
The ministry of human resource and development had ordered the Central Board of secondary education and all the other educational institutions to postpone the exams till 31 March due to the ongoing novel coronavirus spread. They have also ordered to postpone the ongoing board examinations of classes 10th and 12th.
Also, they have been added that the evaluation work should get rescheduled after 31 March. All the evaluation work of CBSE, NIOS, University Exams should also be included. They have also said that JEE Mains will also be rescheduled and new dates would be announced after 31 March 2020. During the aforementioned period, re-examinations that were rescheduled to be held for the northeast Delhi candidates will be also further rescheduled as said by the CBSE Secretary Anurag Tripathi.
“While maintenance of academic calendar and exam schedule is important, equally important is safety and security of students who are appearing in various examinations as also of their teachers and parents.” as said by HRD secretary Amit Khare in official communication.
The announcement by the CBSE by following directives from the HRD ministry says exams are important but the safety and security of the students and teachers are equally important.
The Health Ministry on Wednesday said that the number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in India rose to 151, including 25 foreign nationals.
According to the health ministry, India’s total number of cases stand at 151. Globally, the number of cases has reached over 200,000, and there have been over 8,010 reported deaths across 157 countries.
