The alleged NEET UG 2026 paper leak controversy has reached the Supreme Court. The apex court is set to hear several petitions demanding major reforms in the National Testing Agency (NTA).
More than 22 lakh medical aspirants across India are closely watching the hearing. Many students and parents want clarity about the future of the examination process.
Students and Medical Bodies Demand Reforms
Several student groups, parents, and medical associations have approached the Supreme Court. These include the Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) and the United Doctors Front (UDF).
The petitioners have alleged “systemic failure” in the conduct of NEET UG 2026. They have asked the court to introduce stricter examination rules and stronger digital security measures. Some petitions have also demanded restructuring or replacing the NTA.
Supreme Court Raises Concerns
The Supreme Court had earlier expressed concern over repeated controversies linked to national entrance exams. During earlier proceedings, the bench reportedly said it was “sad that NTA has not learned its lesson.”
The court also sought responses from the Centre, the NTA, and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Demand for Court-Monitored Committee
According to reports, the petitions also seek a court-monitored high-powered committee. The proposed panel may include cybersecurity experts, forensic specialists, and retired judges.
Some petitioners have also suggested shifting towards digitally secured or computer-based testing systems. They believe this could reduce the risk of future paper leaks.
CBI Investigation Continues
The CBI is currently investigating allegations linked to a larger exam leak network. So far, investigators have made multiple arrests in connection with the case.
Recent developments include the arrest of a Pune-based school headmistress and a lecturer. Authorities accused them of allegedly sharing reconstructed physics questions linked to the examination.
Investigators are now examining whether a wider organised network was involved.
