₹4,456 Crore and Counting: Haryana's Economy Powers Record GST Gains

Haryana has made a big leap with the highest growth in State Goods and Services Tax (SGST) collections in the month of May, 2026 in the Indian States and Union Territories. The SGST revenue was recorded at ₹4,456 crore which is an impressive 22 percent more than the previous year.

The growth is attributed to the rising economy, business activities and tax compliance of the state. This increase in collections is a positive indicator indicating that industries, traders and service providers in the State are playing an active role in the economic development of the State, officials said.

In recent years, the government has been working towards making the tax procedures more and more transparent and technology-based. The improvement in compliance, due to the introduction of digital systems, better monitoring and awareness among businesses, has resulted in an increase in revenue collections. The state’s initiatives to foster a business climate have also helped to drive economic growth in various industries.

Haryana remains an attractive destination for investments in manufacturing, logistics, IT, real estate and infrastructure development. Cities like Gurugram, Faridabad, Panipat, Sonipat and other areas continue to be major economic hubs, driving considerable business transactions that result in high collection of taxes.

The performance is seen as more than a mere revenue number by economic experts. Greater levels of tax collection are likely to be associated with a greater level of consumer spending, business growth and economic confidence. This extra income can be used for investment in public services, welfare schemes, education, health care facilities and roads which would directly impact citizens.

State officials have welcomed this development terming it as an indicator of Haryana’s increasing economic strength and good governance. They believed that this will hold in the coming months as the momentum for the industry’s growth and investments is set to ramp up further.

Haryana has shown yet again the strength of its economic engine and its highest SGST growth rate is a shining example of how growth and compliance and development can go hand in hand.
