A serious case of alleged corruption and drug mismanagement has come to light in Sirsa, Haryana, where a police personnel has been arrested in connection with the tampering of a large narcotics seizure. The incident has raised concerns over accountability within law enforcement agencies handling sensitive drug-related cases.
The case dates back to a major recovery of approximately 90 kilograms of opium in Sirsa. The seized contraband was part of a significant anti-narcotics operation carried out by the authorities. However, the case took a dramatic turn when allegations surfaced that a serving Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI), identified as Ranbir Singh, was involved in the misappropriation of the seized material.
According to the allegations, the ASI allegedly tampered with the confiscated opium and removed a portion of the seized substance from official custody. It is further alleged that the extracted quantity of opium was later handed over to another individual, raising serious questions about the integrity of the handling process and the chain of custody of the seized narcotics.
Following the emergence of these allegations, law enforcement authorities initiated immediate action. The accused police official was arrested after preliminary verification of the charges. In addition, disciplinary proceedings were also taken, leading to his dismissal from service.
Officials have described the case as serious in nature, given that it involves both the mishandling of narcotics evidence and the alleged involvement of a law enforcement officer in unlawful activity. The matter is now under active investigation, with authorities examining the extent of the alleged misconduct and identifying any additional individuals who may be involved.
The incident has sparked concerns within administrative circles, as it highlights the need for stricter monitoring and transparency in the handling of seized narcotics. Senior officials are expected to review existing procedures to prevent such breaches in the future.
