Chandigarh Police say force was used to prevent two accused from fleeing custody during an ongoing investigation

A dramatic development occurred in the Chandigarh Sector 11 firing case when two accused sustained gunshot injuries to their legs during a police operation after they allegedly attempted to escape from custody. According to Chandigarh Police, the incident took place while investigators were carrying out follow-up proceedings related to the ongoing probe into the firing case.

The original Sector 11 firing incident had triggered a major investigation after shots were reportedly fired in the area, prompting law enforcement agencies to launch a search for those allegedly involved. Police have been examining the circumstances of the firing, the motive behind the incident, and the role of various suspects identified during the investigation.

According to the police version, the two accused were being taken as part of investigative proceedings when they allegedly attempted to flee from custody. Officials stated that the accused tried to take advantage of an opportunity to escape, following which police personnel initiated action to prevent their escape. During the operation, both accused sustained bullet injuries in their legs. Authorities maintain that force was used to stop the accused from absconding and that the injuries were non-fatal.

The injured accused were immediately shifted to a government hospital, where they received medical treatment. Police officials said their condition was stable and that they remained under police custody and medical supervision. Security arrangements were reportedly strengthened at the hospital to prevent any further incident.

Senior Chandigarh Police officials stated that the operation was conducted in accordance with established procedures and that all legal formalities related to the use of force were being completed. Investigators are also examining evidence linked to the original firing case. Any recovery of weapons, vehicles, or other material connected to the investigation will be subject to official confirmation by the authorities.

Legal experts note that under Indian law, any police firing incident is subject to procedural scrutiny, documentation, and review. Former law enforcement officials say that standard operating procedures require officers to use only the force considered necessary to prevent escape or address an immediate threat.

The allegations against the accused and the circumstances surrounding the escape attempt remain under investigation. Court proceedings, remand-related matters, and further legal action will be determined through the judicial process. Authorities are expected to complete all required inquiries into both the original Sector 11 firing case and the subsequent police operation.
