HANSI: The Haryana State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (SVACB) arrested a middleman for allegedly accepting a ₹16,500 bribe on behalf of a Hansi Municipal Council official. The vigilance team caught the accused during a trap operation after receiving a complaint from a resident.

Complaint Led to Vigilance Action

The complainant alleged that a Municipal Council official demanded money to sign a monitoring report. The report was necessary to process payment for completed development work. Instead of paying the bribe, the complainant informed the Vigilance Bureau.

Officials verified the complaint before taking any action. After confirming the allegations, they planned a trap operation to catch the accused.

Middleman Caught Red-Handed

During the operation, the middleman accepted the ₹16,500 bribe from the complainant. The vigilance team immediately arrested him. Officials recovered the money and completed the required legal formalities at the spot.

The bureau registered a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act. Investigators are now examining the role of the Municipal Council official who allegedly demanded the bribe. They will also determine whether other people were involved.

Investigation Continues

The Vigilance Bureau said the investigation is still in progress. Officials are collecting evidence and questioning everyone connected to the case. Further action will depend on the findings of the investigation.

The bureau urged citizens to report corruption instead of paying bribes. Officials said public support helps expose illegal practices and strengthens transparency in government offices.

Haryana Intensifies Anti-Corruption Drive

The Hansi Municipal Council bribery case is part of Haryana’s larger campaign against corruption. The Vigilance Bureau has increased trap operations across the state in recent months. These operations target officials and middlemen who demand illegal payments for public services.

Authorities have assured that strict legal action will follow if investigators find anyone guilty. They also encouraged people to use the bureau’s official complaint channels whenever they face corruption.

The arrest once again highlights the state’s commitment to improving accountability in public administration. Officials believe prompt complaints from citizens can help eliminate corruption and make government services more transparent.
