Vadya Chawla table tennis reached a new milestone as the young paddler clinched the boys’ Under-17 title at the UTT 1st Chandigarh State Ranking Table Tennis Championship. Representing Sri Guru Gobind Singh Public School, Sector 35, Vadya produced a spirited comeback to lift the gold medal at the Sector 23 Sports Complex.
Vadya Chawla Stages Brilliant Comeback
Vadya lost the opening game against Ankush Kumar of DAV Public School, Sector 8. However, he quickly regained momentum and won the next three games to seal the match 7-11, 11-9, 11-3, 11-9.
Earlier, Vadya defeated Arpit Bhatia in the semi-final. Meanwhile, Ankush booked his place in the final after overcoming Mehtab D. Both finalists also impressed in the quarterfinals.
Vani Claims Girls’ Under-17 Gold
In the girls’ Under-17 final, Vani of St Joseph’s School, Sector 44, defeated Sherell of Delhi Public School, Sector 40.
She dominated the contest from the start. As a result, Vani secured the title with an 11-6, 11-9, 11-7 victory.
Priyanshi Continues Winning Streak
Priyanshi of Carmel Convent School, Sector 9, added another gold medal to her tally by winning the girls’ Under-15 event.
Moreover, she defeated Idhika Bansal of Bhavan Vidyalaya, Sector 27, in straight games. Earlier in the tournament, Priyanshi had already captured the Under-13 title.
Ekampreet Wins Boys’ Under-15 Title
Ekampreet of Gillco International School, Kharar, emerged victorious in the boys’ Under-15 final.
He bounced back after dropping the opening game against Arpit Bhatia. Eventually, Ekampreet completed a remarkable comeback to claim the championship.
Young Players Shine in Chandigarh Championship
The UTT 1st Chandigarh State Ranking Table Tennis Championship showcased several talented young paddlers. Overall, the tournament highlighted the growing standard of table tennis in Chandigarh and provided an excellent platform for emerging athletes to compete at the state level.
