Stalin Demands Immediate Release of Funds
DMK president and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has urged the Centre to release nearly ₹2,200 crore in pending education funds. He said the delay has affected several welfare and education initiatives across the state. Therefore, he asked the Union government to clear the dues without any further delay.
Tamil Nadu Seeks Timely Financial Support
Stalin said the state has fulfilled its responsibility in implementing education programmes. However, he claimed that the Centre has not released the approved funds. As a result, several projects now face financial pressure. He also said students should not suffer because of administrative differences.
Chief Minister Defends State’s Stand
Stalin strongly defended Tamil Nadu’s education model during his statement. He said the state remains committed to providing quality education for every student. Moreover, he stressed that education should remain free from political disagreements. He urged the Centre to focus on students instead of policy disputes.
Political Debate Gains Momentum
The issue has triggered fresh political debate between the DMK and the BJP-led Centre. Meanwhile, leaders from both sides continue to defend their positions. The Centre has maintained that fund releases depend on compliance with the required guidelines. On the other hand, the Tamil Nadu government insists that it has met the necessary conditions.
Issue Likely to Stay in Focus
The demand for the pending funds is expected to remain a key political issue in the coming weeks. Both governments may hold further discussions to resolve the matter. Until then, education funding will continue to dominate political and public discussions in Tamil Nadu.
