16 Injured as PRTC Bus Collides with Tractor-Trailer Near Malout

A major Malout bus accident left 16 people injured after a Punjab Roadways Transport Corporation (PRTC) bus collided with a tractor-trailer on the Bathinda-Malout Road. The accident took place near Channu Dhaba late on Saturday night. Emergency teams rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to the Civil Hospital in Malout.

Bus Crashes into Tractor-Trailer

According to officials, the PRTC bus was travelling from Bathinda to Malout when it collided with a tractor-trailer.

Immediately after the accident, the Sadak Surakhya Force (SSF) reached the scene and launched a rescue operation. Rescue personnel shifted all injured passengers to the hospital for medical treatment.

Drivers Sustain Serious Injuries

The injured bus driver has been identified as Ravinder Mohan, while the tractor driver is Mahinder Singh.

Meanwhile, doctors referred both drivers to a higher medical centre because of the seriousness of their injuries. The remaining injured passengers received treatment at the Civil Hospital in Malout.

Passengers Recall the Terrifying Incident

Several passengers described the collision as sudden and frightening.

One injured passenger said she heard a loud crash before seeing injured people inside the bus. As a result, panic spread among the passengers moments after the collision.

Police Launch Investigation

Police have started an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident.

In addition, officials will examine the condition of both vehicles and record statements from witnesses. The findings will help establish the circumstances that led to the crash.

Authorities Stress Road Safety

Road accidents involving heavy vehicles remain a serious concern on Punjab highways.

Overall, authorities have urged motorists to follow traffic rules and drive carefully to reduce the risk of similar accidents in the future.
