Doda has set an example of in hospitality after COVID-19 crisis hit the country and labourers as well as others are losing their work and livelihood.
But at this juncture people and administration of Doda district didn’t disappoint labourers and daily wagers belonging to Punjab and other parts of the country and helped them to cope with the crisis.
Hundreds of labourers and daily wagers stayed back in Doda and they were provided with every kind of help in terms of food, shelter and whatever they required. They are happy with the treatment and want to stay back for long.
“We are working here for past many years and sell different kind of seeds and other day to day things on a roadside in Doda town. When the COVID crisis hit the country and Doda was no exception, people as well as administration helped us. They provided us food and whatever we required,” said Sheetal, a daily wager from Punjab, who laid her things on a roadside near deputy commissioner office Doda.
Many labourers are being provided ration and other essential items on daily basis and wherever possible they have been hired for the work, especially in construction field.
