An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) has been dismissed from service after being found guilty in a bribery case, officials confirmed on Wednesday. The action was taken following an internal inquiry that substantiated allegations of corruption and misconduct during the officer’s tenure.
According to department sources, the case came to light after a complaint was lodged alleging that the ASI had demanded and accepted illegal gratification in exchange for official favour. The matter was subsequently investigated by vigilance authorities, who gathered evidence and recorded statements as part of the probe.
Following the inquiry, disciplinary proceedings were initiated against the officer. Officials stated that the findings clearly established violations of service conduct rules, leading to the decision to terminate the ASI from duty. The dismissal was carried out with immediate effect in accordance with departmental regulations.
