Dypt. Commissioner Sh.Mandip S Brar held meetings with all the major political parties.
A meeting was held under the Chairmanship of Sh. Mandip Singh Brar, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, UT, Chandigarh with all the major political parties representatives in Chandigarh.
The Deputy Commissioner informed all present about the various decisions taken by the Administration in the present situation . Further, he informed that contact tracing of the primary and secondary contacts is being done aggressively. More than 1000 people have been home quarantined in Chandigarh. A 24 X 7 working feedback number for the citizens i.e 112 for any kind of grievance is working effectively. All the grievances are being addressed timely by the concerned Nodal Officers.
He further informed that a dedicated COVID19 Hospital for positive patients has been set up in Nehru Block, PGIMER, Chandigarh.
The e-pass system is also functioning for facilitating the process of the issue of passes for individuals/ organizations involved in the supply chain of essentials items. With respect to Food Distribution, he stated that Sh Tejdeep Saini, PCS has been appointed as Nodal Officer for Food Distribution to the needy in the city. Various Individuals/ Social organizations have come forward and helping the Administration in preparation of food. However, the distribution of food to the needy is being ensured in the various areas through respective SDMs only. Sh Saurabh Arora, PCS has been deputed for coordinating with all the NGOs and voluntary organizations who want to contribute help.
He further stated that the sum of Rs. 3000 has been credited into the accounts of beneficiaries of (construction registered labor). Further, all were informed that instructions have already been given to all the employers, be it in the industry or in the shops and commercial establishments that they shall make payment of wages to their workers, at their workplaces, on the due date, without any deduction, for the period their establishments are under closure during the lockdown. Moreover, wherever, the workers, including the migrants are living in rented accommodation, the landlords of those properties shall not demand payment of rent for a period of one month. In case any landlord is forcing laborers and students to vacate their premises, they will be liable for strict action as per law.
The Deputy Commissioner appealed to all the political party representatives to promote the message of “SOCIAL DISTANCING” amongst all political workers and also all the residents of the city.
All the political parties gave feedback regarding the different initiatives taken by Administration. They all spoke in one voice that COVID19 is a threat to entire humanity and we will be fighting it together along with the Administration. They unanimously thanked all the officials of the Administration for their tireless efforts in preventing the spread of COVID19 in Chandigarh.
