Gurugram police have intensified their crackdown on illegal immigration after uncovering alleged networks that facilitate the entry and settlement of undocumented Bangladeshi nationals in the city. According to investigators, agents are reportedly charging around Rs 15,000 per person to help migrants cross the border and reach various parts of northern India, including Gurugram. Authorities claim that construction sites, labour camps, industrial areas, and informal settlements have become preferred locations for such individuals due to the availability of daily-wage employment and temporary accommodation.
As part of a special verification drive launched across the city, police teams have conducted inspections at construction sites, slum clusters, rented accommodations, hotels, and industrial zones. During the operation, authorities detained several suspected Bangladeshi nationals who were allegedly residing in Gurugram without valid travel or identity documents. Deportation and verification proceedings have been initiated in accordance with legal procedures.
Investigators believe that organized networks assist undocumented migrants in obtaining jobs and accommodation while helping them avoid detection. The police are also examining whether forged identity documents were used to facilitate their stay. Intelligence inputs suggest that rapidly expanding construction projects and labour-intensive sectors make it easier for illegal migrants to blend in with the large workforce employed across the NCR region.
Officials have appealed to builders, contractors, landlords, and employers to verify the identity and legal status of workers before hiring them. The ongoing drive is expected to continue in the coming weeks as authorities seek to identify illegal residents and dismantle networks involved in human trafficking and document fraud
