A major twist has emerged in the fake forensic report case linked to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. Gurugram Police claim that the forensic laboratories cited in reports allegedly giving the Punjab CM a “clean chit” do not exist.
The investigation has revealed that the two laboratories named in the documents—Sentinel Lab and Cyberian Labs—have no physical offices and are not recognised by any government authority. Police believe the reports were fabricated as part of a larger conspiracy.
What Did the Investigation Reveal?
According to Gurugram Police, investigators questioned two arrested suspects during the probe. The accused allegedly admitted that they created fake forensic reports using the names of non-existent laboratories.
Police also found that neither Sentinel Lab nor Cyberian Labs had government recognition or registered offices. Officials say both names were used only to make the forged reports appear genuine.
How Did the Case Begin?
The controversy started after a video allegedly involving Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann circulated on social media.
Later, reports surfaced claiming that forensic experts had certified the video as AI-generated, effectively giving the Chief Minister a clean chit. However, a whistleblower challenged the authenticity of those reports, leading to a criminal investigation.
Whistleblower Makes Serious Allegations
The complaint was filed by Jaspreet Singh, a forensic expert from Sirsa.
He alleged that officials pressured him while he was visiting the Ludhiana Cyber Police Station. According to his complaint, he was intimidated and asked to prepare a forensic report that supported a predetermined conclusion.
He also claimed he never intended his work to be used to mislead religious authorities or the public.
Two Accused Arrested
Gurugram Police have arrested Arun, who worked at a Parivar Pehchan Patra (PPP) office in Panchkula, and Ankit, a contractual employee associated with the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
During questioning, both allegedly admitted they prepared forged forensic reports for financial gain. Police said neither accused had any connection with a recognised forensic laboratory.
Investigation Expands
Police have frozen the bank accounts of the accused and informed the NIA about the developments.
Investigators are also examining technical evidence, hotel CCTV footage and digital records to identify everyone involved in the alleged conspiracy. Officials say the investigation remains active, and more action could follow if additional evidence emerges.
Conclusion
The Gurugram Police investigation has raised fresh questions about the authenticity of the forensic reports linked to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s alleged video controversy. With investigators claiming the laboratories never existed and two suspects already under arrest, the case has entered a crucial stage. Police continue to examine digital evidence to uncover the full extent of the alleged forgery and conspiracy.
