Major Crackdown on Counterfeit Medicines
The Haryana Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has busted a major counterfeit drug racket in the state. Officials arrested 16 accused during a series of intelligence-based raids. They also seized 323 varieties of fake allopathic medicines worth nearly ₹70 lakh. The operation targeted an interstate network involved in manufacturing and distributing counterfeit medicines.
Gurugram Emerges as Key Hub
Officials arrested 12 suspects in Gurugram. Investigators believe the city served as a key operating centre for the syndicate. The accused allegedly supplied fake medicines to different regions through a well-organized distribution network. FDA teams collected evidence and sealed several locations during the operation.
Statewide Enforcement Intensified
The Haryana FDA launched the crackdown under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940. Senior officials from the Health and Family Welfare Department directed regional officers to strengthen inspections across the state. Authorities have increased surveillance, product sampling, and surprise raids. They also instructed officers to take strict legal action against anyone involved in the illegal drug trade.
Previous Operations Reveal a Larger Network
This is not the first successful operation against counterfeit medicines in Haryana. Earlier this year, officials uncovered fake Mounjaro injections, counterfeit Telma-AM tablets, and other illegal pharmaceutical products. These investigations exposed links to a larger interstate network. Authorities continue to identify new suspects and trace the supply chain behind these fake medicines.

The FDA has urged consumers to remain cautious while buying medicines. People should purchase medicines only from licensed pharmacies and always check the packaging, batch number, manufacturing details, and expiry date before use.
