Employees Allowed to Update Permanent Address
The Haryana government has clarified that government employees can change their permanent residential address during their period of service. However, the employee’s hometown, as recorded in official service documents, will remain unchanged.
The clarification has been issued to remove confusion regarding the distinction between a permanent address and a hometown in government records. Officials said the move will help ensure uniform implementation of service rules across departments.
Hometown Will Continue to Remain the Same
According to the government, an employee’s permanent address may change because of personal or family circumstances, such as relocation or the purchase of a new residence. However, such a change will not affect the hometown already recorded in the employee’s service records.
The hometown is considered a fixed entry for official purposes and is governed by the applicable service rules.
Departments Directed to Follow Uniform Guidelines
The government has instructed all departments to follow the clarified guidelines while processing requests related to changes in employees’ residential addresses. Officials have been asked to update permanent addresses only after proper verification and documentation.
The clarification aims to prevent inconsistencies in administrative records and ensure that service-related benefits linked to hometown rules are applied correctly.
Administrative Process Made Clearer
Officials said the revised clarification will simplify record management and reduce confusion among employees seeking to update their residential details. It will also help departments process such requests more efficiently while maintaining accurate employee records.
The government believes that clear and consistent guidelines will improve administrative transparency and ensure smooth handling of employee service matters across Haryana.
