Teaching aspirants of Haryana have been stunned by the official announcement of the Haryana Teacher Eligibility Test (HTET) 2026 by the Haryana Board of School Education (HBSE), which has now been postponed. The exam was previously scheduled to take place in June, but will now be on July 4 and 5, 2026.
The move was made to avoid conflicts with exams being held by Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC) so that candidates appearing in more than one competitive exam won’t get scheduling trouble.
The news is both shocking and a blessing to many aspirants. Others have already started the final stage of preparation, while others are pleased by the extra time they will have to update key topics and enhance their preparations for one of the most significant examinations to obtain teaching eligibility in the state.
HTET is the entry way for candidates who are willing to become Primary Teachers (PRT), Trained Graduate Teachers (TGT), and Post Graduate Teachers (PGT) in the Government and Aided Schools of Haryana. The examination is attempted by lakhs of candidates every year to become a part of the education sector.
The new timetable, education professionals say, could be beneficial for many candidates. The additional weeks allow for consolidation of weaker areas, additional mock tests and increased confidence in approaching the exam.
The Board has suggested the candidates to keep checking the official website for all the details related to Admit card, Exam centre and other notifications. Officals have said that everything would be done in a proper manner to ensure the examination on the new dates go smoothly.
With the countdown to July commencing, aspirants all across Haryana are fine-tuning their preparation strategies, and making the best use of the extended time. The delay for many is not only a mere rescheduling of dates, but an opportunity to enhance their performance and advance a step closer to a teaching career.
