Chandigarh, June 29: Haryana may finally get relief from the ongoing heat. The southwest monsoon is moving towards northern India, and weather conditions are becoming favourable across the state. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), several districts are likely to receive rain over the next few days. Thunderstorms and strong winds are also expected in many areas.
Rain Expected in Several Districts
The IMD has forecast light to moderate rainfall in Gurugram, Faridabad, Karnal, Ambala, Kurukshetra, Hisar, Rohtak, Sonipat, Panipat, Yamunanagar, Panchkula, and nearby districts. Some places may also witness thunderstorms and gusty winds with speeds of 40 to 50 kmph. Residents have been advised to stay updated with the latest weather alerts.
Cloud Cover Signals Monsoon Arrival
Cloud cover has increased across many parts of Haryana during the past two days. Weather experts say this is a strong sign that the monsoon is approaching. Gurugram also witnessed a dust storm recently, indicating changing weather conditions. If the current weather pattern continues, regular rainfall is likely to begin during the first week of July.
Relief from Heat, Good News for Farmers
The expected rainfall is likely to reduce daytime temperatures by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius. This will provide relief from the hot and humid weather that has affected the state in recent weeks. The rain will also improve soil moisture, helping farmers prepare their fields for paddy transplantation and other Kharif crops.
However, farmers have been advised to remain cautious. Heavy rainfall in some areas could lead to waterlogging, especially in low-lying fields. Local authorities are monitoring the situation closely.
IMD Issues Safety Advisory
The IMD has urged people to remain careful during thunderstorms. Residents should avoid standing under trees, near electric poles, or in open fields when lightning occurs. Motorists have also been advised to drive slowly, as rain can reduce visibility and make roads slippery.
Active Monsoon Spell Likely Soon
Officials are closely tracking the progress of the southwest monsoon. Timely rainfall is important for agriculture, water reservoirs, and drinking water supply across Haryana. If weather conditions remain favourable, the state is expected to witness an active monsoon spell in the coming days, bringing widespread rain and ending the prolonged spell of hot and humid weather.
