HCS preliminary exam result 2026

Chandigarh: In a significant development for civil services aspirants in Haryana, the Punjab and Haryana High Court has directed the revision of the Haryana Civil Services (HCS) Preliminary Examination result. The court issued the order while hearing a petition related to the grant of reservation benefits to Ex-Servicemen (ESM) and their eligible family members during the recruitment process.

The case, Ashish Beniwal vs State of Haryana and Others (CWP No. 15840 of 2026), challenged the manner in which reservation provisions were implemented by the Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC) while preparing the preliminary examination results. After considering the matter, the High Court directed that the results be revised in accordance with the applicable reservation rules.

Following the court’s directions, the HPSC revised the results that had originally been declared on May 4, May 13 and May 20. The commission subsequently released a fresh list of candidates who qualified for the Haryana Civil Services (Executive Branch) and Allied Services Main Examination, subject to the fulfilment of all eligibility conditions.

The revised result has brought relief to several candidates who were earlier excluded from the list of qualified aspirants. At the same time, the development has underscored the importance of transparency and strict adherence to reservation norms in competitive examinations.

Candidates whose roll numbers feature in the revised merit list will now be eligible to appear for the HCS Main Examination. The HPSC has advised aspirants to regularly check its official website for updates regarding the examination schedule and further instructions.
