NEW DELHI, June 11 — India has urged restraint and a return to diplomacy as tensions continue to rise between the United States, Israel, and Iran, with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar reiterating that this is “not an era of war.”
Speaking on India’s approach to international conflicts, Jaishankar emphasized the importance of dialogue, diplomacy, and peaceful resolution of disputes. He also reaffirmed India’s long-standing policy of zero tolerance toward terrorism, stating that security concerns must be addressed while preserving regional stability.
India’s remarks come amid heightened tensions in the Middle East following recent military exchanges and growing concerns over the possibility of a broader regional conflict. The situation has drawn international attention due to its potential impact on global security and economic stability.
New Delhi has expressed concern over the implications for global energy supplies and key maritime trade routes, particularly in and around the Strait of Hormuz, a vital corridor for international oil shipments. Any disruption in the region could affect energy markets and global commerce.
India, which maintains significant strategic and economic ties across the Middle East, has consistently advocated de-escalation and diplomatic engagement. Officials have called on all parties to avoid further escalation and pursue peaceful solutions through dialogue.
The latest statement reflects India’s broader foreign policy position of supporting stability, encouraging diplomacy, and opposing terrorism while seeking to prevent wider regional instability.
