71st Republic Day celebrated in far flung and mountainous district of Jammu and Kashmir
With other parts of the country 71st Republic Day was also celebrated in this far flung and mountainous district of Jammu and Kashmir union territory with great enthusiasm. Celebrations were held at dozens of places across the district in which despite extreme cold large number of students and residents participated. In order to ensure smooth and safe celebrations elaborate security arrangements were made throughout the district.
The main function was held at sports stadium Doda where national tricolor was hoisted by District Development Commissioner Doda Dr. Sagar D Diforede. The function started early in the morning with playing of “Shehnaiee Wadan” and as per schedule national tricolor was unfurled at 10PM. DDC also inspected prade and delivered a speech on the occasion. DDC congratulated residents of Doda on the eve of R Day and paid tribute to those who laid their lives for independence and making the country able to adopt its own law. DDC also threw light on the developmental process of Doda district and said that all efforts are being made to make the district at par with the other districts in the field of development.
After his speech DDC took salute of march past. In the march past CRPF, SSB, JKP, JKAP, Forest Protection Force, NCC and students of various government and private educational institutions participated.
During the celebrations various departmental “Jankis” were also displayed highlighting the achievements in various developmental schemes. At the end of program cultural items were also presented.
