Punjab Cabinet Minister Aman Arora attends the swearing-in ceremony, emphasizing rural development, transparent governance, and grassroots empowerment.

Sangrur: Newly elected Chairperson of Block Samiti Sunam-2, Navdeep Kaur Sanghreri, and Vice Chairperson Davinder Singh formally assumed office at the BDPO Office, Sangrur, during a ceremony attended by Punjab Cabinet Minister Aman Arora, local elected representatives, government officials, party workers, and supporters.

The appointment ceremony marked the beginning of a new leadership team for Block Samiti Sunam-2. Navdeep Kaur Sanghreri was unanimously elected as Chairperson, while Davinder Singh was unanimously chosen as Vice Chairperson, reflecting broad support among members of the local body. The event witnessed the participation of several prominent dignitaries, who extended their congratulations and expressed confidence in the newly elected office-bearers.

Addressing the gathering, Cabinet Minister Aman Arora congratulated both leaders and emphasized the Punjab Government’s commitment to strengthening local self-government institutions. He stated that grassroots governance plays a crucial role in ensuring balanced rural development and delivering public services efficiently. Arora highlighted the government’s focus on transparency, accountability, and people-centric administration, adding that empowered local bodies are essential for implementing development projects effectively.

Speaking on the occasion, Chairperson Navdeep Kaur Sanghreri said her priorities would include improving village infrastructure, enhancing sanitation services, ensuring better access to clean drinking water, and strengthening educational and healthcare facilities across the block. She also stressed the importance of women’s empowerment and community welfare initiatives.

Vice Chairperson Davinder Singh said special attention would be given to youth welfare, agricultural development, and addressing issues faced by rural residents. He assured the public that the new leadership would work closely with panchayats, government departments, and local stakeholders to resolve public grievances and accelerate development activities.

Block Samitis form an important part of Punjab’s rural governance framework. These bodies function at the block level and are responsible for coordinating development plans, implementing government schemes, monitoring public welfare programs, and facilitating cooperation between village panchayats and district authorities. Their role is considered vital in ensuring that development initiatives reach rural communities effectively.
