Panchkula Police Dismiss SPO After Assault Video Goes Viral
A Special Police Officer (SPO) posted in the Ramgarh area of Panchkula has been dismissed from service after a video allegedly showing him assaulting a man surfaced on social media. The incident triggered widespread public criticism, prompting immediate departmental action. Panchkula Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Srishti Gupta stated that misuse of the police uniform or abuse of authority would not be tolerated under any circumstances. She reiterated that the police department is committed to maintaining transparency, accountability, and public trust while ensuring strict disciplinary action against personnel found guilty of misconduct.

The Panchkula administration has launched a major drive against illegal residential colonies and unauthorized highway encroachments across the district. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a data entry operator associated with the Haryana State Pollution Control Board in Panchkula for allegedly facilitating transactions worth nearly ₹70 crore linked to the larger ₹593-crore government accounts fraud case. Investigators believe the accused played a significant role in processing unauthorized financial transactions through bank accounts. The arrest marks another major development in the ongoing investigation into one of Haryana’s biggest financial scams.
4. Property Tax Relief Available Until June 30
The Municipal Corporation of Panchkula has reminded residents that the 100% waiver on interest for pending property tax dues remains available until 30 June 2026. Property owners who clear their outstanding dues within the deadline can avoid paying accumulated interest. The civic body expects the initiative to improve tax collection while providing financial relief to residents with pending liabilities.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast increased monsoon activity across Haryana, including Panchkula, on 26 June.
