Punjab Weather Alert, Congress Turmoil, BSF Action & Election Preparations Dominate Today’s News

Punjab remained in the spotlight on 25 June 2026. The state witnessed major developments related to weather, politics, elections, and border security. Several important announcements and investigations kept the administration busy throughout the day.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather alert for many districts of Punjab. According to the forecast, thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds are likely over the next two days. Light to moderate rainfall is also expected. The rain may bring relief from the intense summer heat. However, officials have advised people to remain alert and avoid unnecessary travel during bad weather.

Meanwhile, politics continued to dominate the headlines. The Congress stepped up its attack on the AAP government and demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann over the ongoing viral video controversy. At the same time, the BJP and Shiromani Akali Dal also criticized the state government. They alleged that the government had failed to handle the issue properly. In response, the AAP government rejected the allegations and called them politically motivated.

Another political development came from within the Punjab Congress. Patiala MP Dharamvira Gandhi sparked fresh debate after deleting a social media post. In the post, he had raised concerns over the delay in the party’s organisational restructuring. His remarks have intensified discussions about possible differences within the party ahead of future elections.

The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Punjab’s electoral rolls also began on Thursday. Election officials have started a month-long house-to-house verification drive across the state. The Election Commission said the campaign aims to ensure that every eligible voter is included in the electoral rolls. Officials also assured citizens that the verification process will remain transparent and fair.

Security agencies also remained on high alert. The Border Security Force (BSF) is continuing its investigation into a cross-border arms smuggling network. Recently, security personnel recovered an AK rifle and several pistols near the India-Pakistan border. Officials believe that drone-based smuggling continues to pose a serious security threat in Punjab.

In another important development, the Punjab Police’s Special Investigation Team (SIT) again summoned former Union Minister Vijay Sampla in connection with the Behbal Kalan police firing case. Sampla said he would cooperate with the investigation. However, he also requested copies of the relevant documents before appearing before the SIT.

Overall, 25 June 2026 was an eventful day for Punjab. Weather alerts, political developments, election preparations, and security operations remained the focus. As the state moves forward, these developments are expected to shape Punjab’s political and administrative landscape in the coming weeks.
