Haryana child crime news

The Haryana Human Rights Commission (HHRC) has expressed concern over the increasing number of crimes against children reported across the state. Following a review of recent crime statistics and complaints, the commission has directed district administrations and police authorities to submit detailed reports on child-related crimes, investigations, and preventive measures being implemented.

The commission’s action comes amid growing concerns about cases involving child abuse, sexual offences, trafficking, neglect, cyber exploitation, and violence against minors. Officials have been asked to provide information on the number of cases registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, the progress of ongoing investigations, conviction rates, and the support being provided to victims and their families.

The HHRC has also sought details about child protection mechanisms in schools, childcare institutions, and local communities. Authorities have been instructed to explain what steps are being taken to create awareness among parents, teachers, and children regarding personal safety, cyber threats, and reporting mechanisms.

Another key focus of the commission is the timely disposal of cases. Delays in investigations and court proceedings can have a significant impact on child victims. Therefore, district officials have been asked to identify challenges that hinder quick action and recommend solutions to improve coordination between police, child welfare committees, and judicial authorities.

Child rights activists have welcomed the commission’s intervention, stating that stronger monitoring can help ensure accountability and better protection for vulnerable children. Experts believe that regular audits, awareness campaigns, school safety programs, and faster legal proceedings are essential to reducing crimes against children.

The HHRC’s review is expected to lead to stronger enforcement measures and policy recommendations aimed at creating a safer environment for children across Haryana while improving the effectiveness of child protection systems in the state.
