WICCI organized “Shades of Women” to celebrate womanhood
CHANDIGARH: The Women’s Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (WICCI) in Chandigarh organized an event called “Shades of Women” to celebrate womanhood. The event was attended by more than 150 women from the Tricity.
Dr. Harbeen Arora, Founder & President of WICCI, spoke at the event and emphasized the importance of focusing on UN SDG 5 for Gender Equality. She stated that by working with the government, companies, and civil society, WICCI can accelerate actions for inclusion and empowerment. This will also help achieve other SDGs through women-led development. Dr. Arora believes that Gender Equality, Justice, and Economic Empowerment can be achieved within this decade through concerted actions, and WICCI is a united force for change, with the belief that the future is female.
The event included cultural activities such as ‘Bajre Da Sitta’ to showcase women’s culinary skills. A queen council was also selected for her speaking skills and overall personality.
Ms. Deepika Bahri, President WICCI, Chandigarh Chapter said that WICCI provides a platform for women from all walks of life to share their skills and encourage each other. So far, 600-700 women from the tricity have joined.
Prof. (Dr.) Richa Ranjan, Vice-president WICCI, Chandigarh Chapter said that they are trying to connect more women. The initiative aims to empower not only connected women but also those who can be reached. The event was a success, and it showcased the commitment of WICCI to empower women and promote gender equality in the region.
