Permission granted to 2 NC MPs to meet Farooq and Omar Abdullah, by J&K High Court
Permission granted to 2 NC MPs to meet Farooq and Omar Abdullah, Jammu Kashmir High Court grants permission based on certain conditions
Omar Abdullah has been house-arrest since August 5, and Farooq Abdullah is under house arrest. They are not allowed to meet anyone. But the Jammu and Kashmir High Court gave conditional permission to 2 National Conference MPs, Hassain Masoodi and Akbar Lone, to meet both. However, the court has placed certain conditions to meet. Most important, they will not talk to the media about this after the meeting.
In fact, former Justice of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court and Lok Sabha MP from Anantnag seat Hasan Masoodi had filed an appeal in the Jammu and Kashmir High Court that 2 big leaders of his party have been house arrest since August 5. They are worried about both leaders. After the petition was filed on 6 September, the High Court issued a notice to the state government. After which on September 11, the state government advocates told the court that there is no such restriction to meet. The government is not opposed to the two MPs meeting their leaders if they do not spoil the peaceful atmosphere.
After this, the Single Judge Bench of Justice Sanjeev Kumar has ordered Deputy Commissioner Srinagar to hold a meeting with the two leaders within a week.
Also instructed both the MPs that they are meeting only to know the situation. It should not be made political and should not be talked to the media after the meeting.
