Last date for digital driving license upgradation extends till 15th Jan 2021- Razia Sultana
Chandigarh, December 16:
Punjab Transport Department has extended last date for digital driving license upgradation till January 15, 2021.
Divulging the details, Transport Minister Razia Sultana said that in order to empower people to upgrade their manual driving licenses in to Digital Driving License, a special campaign has been launched by Transport Department in November 2020. The objective of campaign is to allow manual driving license holders to get their Driving License reflected in SARTHI application by submitting online application at www.punjabtransport.org or www.sarathi.parivahan.gov.in. After approval, applicant can get his digital Driving License in mParivahan mobile application or Digilocker.
“With the launch of this campaign on SARATHI web application, more than 25000 applicants applied for this service. In order to facilitate the public, the last date for availing this service is extended to 15th January 2021” she added. The Minister said that this drive will ensure elimination of fake driving license and help in enforcement of traffic rules leading to safe driving and improved road safety.
It is pertinent to mention that manual driving License holders were unable to get all services available in SARATHI web application and their Driving license cannot be verified by the enforcement authorities while checking. Notably, the driving licenses were being issued manually before implementation of VAHAN and SARATHI applications.
Earlier, the provision of getting Manual Driving license was available within Licensing & Registering Authority Office and the applicant was required to make multiple visits with physical application and documents, which not only created inconvenience but also gave an opportunity for exploitation of the public. But now, with the launch of new provision in SARATHI web application, the applicant can apply the changes from home.
