Sukhbir Singh Badal, the president of the Shiromani Akali Dal has made his party stronger in the politics of Punjab. He has done this by adding 31 Independent councillors to the Shiromani Akali Dal. This is happening because there are a lot of changes going on in the bodies of Punjab. All the parties are trying to make their position stronger in the institutions. They want to be ready for the elections.

These 31 Independent councillors were elected on their own in the civic elections. Now they have officially joined the Shiromani Akali Dal. Because of this the Shiromani Akali Dal now has 243 councillors in the bodies.

The Shiromani Akali Dal is a party in Punjab. Adding these members is very important. This is because the municipal councillors play a role in the local governance. They decide things like what to do about infrastructure, sanitation, water supply and street lighting. When a party has people in these bodies it becomes more powerful at the local level. This also helps the party to get ready for the elections.

Sukhbir Singh Badal is doing this to make his party stronger after they did not do well in the state-level elections. By adding these councillors to the Shiromani Akali Dal the party wants to work better with the civic administrations.
