The Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (HSGPC) has announced that it will take over the management of the Miri Piri Medical Institute in Shahabad within the next 72 hours if the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), Amritsar, does not voluntarily transfer its administration.
The decision was taken during an executive committee meeting held at the HSGPC headquarters in Kurukshetra under the chairmanship of HSGPC President Jagdish Singh Jhinda. Following the meeting, the committee said a formal letter had been sent to SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, requesting the transfer of the institute’s management.
According to HSGPC, the medical institute has been facing operational difficulties due to ongoing administrative issues. Committee members said doctors and other employees have been forced to protest over pending salaries, while healthcare services at the institute have been severely affected. They claimed that outpatient (OPD) services have also suffered, impacting patients who rely on the facility for treatment.
The committee stated that it could not allow the institute to deteriorate further and therefore unanimously resolved to intervene. HSGPC said that if SGPC fails to hand over the administration within the stipulated 72-hour period, it will assume responsibility for running the institute to restore normal operations and ensure uninterrupted healthcare services.
The development marks another significant chapter in the ongoing dispute over the management of the Miri Piri Medical Institute, which has witnessed legal and administrative challenges in recent months. HSGPC maintained that its priority is to safeguard the interests of employees, patients, and the institution while ensuring that essential medical services continue without disruption.
