IMD Issues 3-Day Storm and Rain Alert for Haryana-NCR, Winds Up to 70 km/h Expected

Thunderstorms Likely Across Haryana-NCR

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a three-day weather alert for Haryana and the National Capital Region (NCR). The forecast warns of thunderstorms, rainfall, lightning, and strong winds reaching speeds of up to 70 km/h. The weather system is expected to remain active over the next three days, bringing a temporary break from the intense summer heat.

Several Districts May Be Affected

According to the IMD, districts across Haryana, including Gurugram, Faridabad, Rohtak, Hisar, Panipat, and nearby areas, may experience moderate to heavy rain along with gusty winds. Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, and other parts of NCR are also expected to witness changing weather conditions during this period.

Strong Winds Could Disrupt Daily Life

Weather officials have advised residents to remain cautious, as wind speeds may touch 60–70 km/h during thunderstorms. Strong winds could uproot trees, damage temporary structures, disrupt traffic, and cause power outages in some areas. People have been asked to avoid standing under trees or near electric poles during storms.

Relief From Heat, But Stay Alert

The rain is expected to bring noticeable relief from the ongoing heatwave that has affected north India over the past several days. However, the IMD has warned that lightning and sudden gusts of wind could pose safety risks, especially for people travelling or working outdoors. Authorities have urged citizens to follow official weather updates and avoid unnecessary travel during periods of severe weather.

Officials also advised farmers to take precautions to protect standing crops and secure farm equipment before the storms arrive. Residents are encouraged to keep emergency supplies ready and stay indoors whenever thunderstorms become severe. The IMD will continue to monitor the weather system and issue updated advisories if conditions change.
