A government school in Punjab’s Faridkot district has suffered extensive damage after three minors allegedly vandalised the premises while filming social media reels, causing losses estimated at nearly Rs 10 lakh. The incident has sparked concern among educators, parents, and local authorities over the growing influence of reckless online trends among young people.
According to preliminary reports, the minors entered the school premises and damaged various parts of the institution while recording videos intended for social media platforms. School authorities discovered the destruction when staff arrived on the campus and found classrooms and other facilities in disarray.
The alleged vandalism resulted in significant damage to school infrastructure, including classroom furniture, doors, windows, electrical fittings, and educational equipment. Initial assessments by officials placed the financial loss at around Rs 10 lakh, though a detailed evaluation is expected to determine the exact extent of the damage.
The matter came to light after school authorities reported the incident to the police. Surveillance footage and local inquiries reportedly helped investigators identify the three minors involved.
