A young man lost his life in a shocking shooting incident in Moga district on Wednesday, triggering panic and outrage in the area. The incident took place in Sukhanand village, which falls under the Bagha Purana Assembly constituency.
The deceased has been identified as Jaskaran Singh alias Gaggu Malli, a resident of Chida village. According to his brother, Tejinder Singh Malli, a dispute had been brewing between Jaskaran and Amandeep Singh Brar, a resident of Sukhanand village. Tejinder alleged that Amandeep repeatedly demanded the use of his vehicle, while Jaskaran opposed the request, leading to frequent arguments between the two.
On Tuesday night at around 9 p.m., Tejinder and Jaskaran reached Amandeep’s residence in Sukhanand village. During a heated exchange, Amandeep allegedly opened fire on Jaskaran, leaving him critically injured.
Family members rushed the victim to a hospital in Bhagta Bhai for treatment. Doctors referred him to a higher medical center due to the severity of his injuries. However, Jaskaran succumbed to his wounds on the way.
Police teams from Bagha Purana, Smalsar, and Moga immediately reached the scene and launched an investigation. DSP Jasbinder Singh of Bagha Purana stated that the accused, Amandeep Singh alias Amna, has a criminal record and faces four previously registered cases related to narcotics. Police have initiated legal proceedings and continue efforts to arrest the accused, who remains absconding.
The incident has sent shockwaves across the region, with residents demanding swift justice for the victim and strict action against the accused.
