Dirba Mandi (Barnala) : A long-running land dispute took a tragic turn in Kamalpur village near Dirba when a confrontation between two groups escalated into gunfire, leaving one person dead and two others injured.
According to DSP Dirba Dr. Rupinder Kaur Bajwa, two groups led by Raj Singh and Kuldeep Singh confronted each other over a land-related issue. During the argument, tensions rose quickly and gunshots rang out at the scene.
A bullet from Raj Singh’s side struck Rohit Kumar (32), a resident of Patiala, causing fatal injuries. Rohit had accompanied an acquaintance who had connections to the disputed land matter. He lost his life during the clash.
The incident also injured Lachhman Singh, a resident of Ghanour Jattan, and Vivek, a resident of Samana. Medical teams shifted both injured men to a hospital, where doctors continue their treatment.
Police officials have learned that three unidentified individuals accompanied Raj Singh during the incident. Investigators are collecting evidence, recording statements, and examining all aspects of the case to establish the exact sequence of events.
The shooting has created tension in the area and raised concerns about the growing number of violent confrontations linked to property disputes. Police teams remain active in the village and continue efforts to identify everyone involved in the incident.
