BRICS MSME Forum in Agra

India is set to host the inaugural BRICS MSME Forum in Agra, marking a significant step towards strengthening economic cooperation among the BRICS nations—Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, and the newer member countries. The forum aims to provide a platform for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to explore business opportunities, foster innovation, and promote sustainable growth across member nations.

Organized by the Ministry of MSME, the event will bring together policymakers, industry leaders, entrepreneurs, startup founders, and business associations from BRICS countries. Discussions will focus on key issues affecting the MSME sector, including access to finance, digital transformation, technology adoption, skill development, green manufacturing, and international trade.

The forum is expected to facilitate networking and business-to-business (B2B) interactions, enabling MSMEs to establish partnerships and expand into new markets. Experts believe that greater collaboration among BRICS economies can help small businesses access advanced technologies, improve competitiveness, and strengthen supply chains.

India has been emphasizing the role of MSMEs as a major contributor to economic growth, employment generation, and exports. By hosting the first BRICS MSME Forum, the country aims to showcase its growing startup ecosystem and manufacturing capabilities while encouraging cross-border investments and innovation.

The event will also explore ways to enhance cooperation in emerging sectors such as artificial intelligence, digital commerce, renewable energy, and sustainable production practices. Participants are expected to discuss policy frameworks that can support MSMEs in adapting to global economic changes and increasing their resilience.

Officials believe the forum will create new opportunities for businesses across BRICS nations and contribute to stronger economic ties, innovation-driven growth, and sustainable development among member countries.
