Punjab to Implement New Rural Employment Scheme from July 1

The new scheme will replace the existing MGNREGA framework in Punjab. Officials said it will create more employment opportunities in villages. It will also strengthen rural infrastructure and improve livelihoods.

Earlier, the state had raised concerns about the programme. However, the government has now decided to implement it. Officials said they will work closely with local bodies to ensure a smooth rollout. They also promised effective implementation across all districts.


Punjab Police Freeze Over 63,000 Bank Accounts in Cyber Fraud Drive

Punjab Police have stepped up their campaign against cybercrime. During the past year, authorities froze 63,749 bank accounts linked to online fraud.

Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said these accounts were involved in suspicious transactions worth ₹540.34 crore.

According to police, the crackdown targeted organised cybercrime gangs. These groups used fake investment schemes, phishing attacks, and online scams to cheat people.

Police have advised citizens to stay alert. They should never share their bank details, OTPs, or passwords with unknown callers. People should also report suspicious online activity immediately.


Punjab Starts ‘Little Steps, Big Development’ Campaign

The Punjab government has launched the “Little Steps, Big Development” campaign for children between 0 and 3 years of age.

The campaign focuses on better nutrition, regular growth monitoring, early learning, and parental awareness. Officials said the first three years are crucial for a child’s physical and mental development.

The programme will be implemented through Anganwadi centres and health workers across the state. The government hopes the initiative will improve child health and early education outcomes.


Punjab Congress Revamp Faces Delay

The Punjab Congress has delayed its organisational restructuring. Senior leaders are still holding discussions on key appointments and future strategy.

The delay has created concern among party workers. Many believe it could affect preparations for future elections.

However, party leaders said consultations are continuing. They added that the restructuring process will be completed only after reaching a broad consensus.


IMD Issues Rain Alert for Punjab

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast thunderstorms and light to moderate rainfall across several parts of Punjab on June 27.

Authorities have asked residents to remain cautious while travelling. Waterlogging and poor visibility may affect traffic in some areas.

Farmers have also been advised to check the latest weather updates before carrying out agricultural work. Officials expect the rainfall to provide temporary relief from the recent heat across the state.
