A senior official from the School Education Department visited a special summer coaching camp at a Meritorious School in Amritsar, where government school students are receiving intensive training for various competitive examinations. The initiative is aimed at helping talented students strengthen their academic foundations and improve their chances of securing admission to prestigious institutions and professional courses.
The summer coaching camp has been organized to provide focused guidance to students preparing for examinations such as NEET, JEE, CUET, NDA, scholarship tests, and other competitive entrance exams. Through structured classroom sessions and expert mentoring, the programme seeks to bridge educational gaps and ensure that students from government schools have access to quality coaching opportunities.
During the visit, the education official interacted with students, teachers, and camp coordinators to assess the progress of the programme. The official reviewed classroom activities, discussed study strategies with students, and encouraged them to make the most of the summer break by concentrating on their academic goals. Students were also advised to maintain discipline, follow a regular study schedule, and stay focused on their long-term career aspirations.
Teachers and coordinators briefed the visiting official about the curriculum, teaching methods, and support systems being provided at the camp. The programme includes subject-specific coaching, doubt-clearing sessions, regular assessments, mock tests, career counselling, and mentorship from experienced faculty members.
Many students expressed appreciation for the initiative, saying that the coaching camp has boosted their confidence and helped them better understand the competitive exam pattern. Participants noted that access to expert guidance and quality study materials has improved their preparation and motivated them to aim for higher educational achievements.
The camp reflects the Punjab government’s broader efforts to strengthen the education system and create equal opportunities for students studying in government schools. Meritorious Schools have played an important role in this mission by offering advanced academic support and nurturing talented students from diverse socio-economic backgrounds.
Education officials stated that such programmes are designed to identify and encourage promising students who aspire to pursue careers in medicine, engineering, defence services, and other professional fields. By providing structured coaching and mentorship, the department aims to enhance students’ competitiveness at the national level.
The summer coaching camp will continue for the scheduled duration, with regular monitoring to ensure quality learning outcomes. Authorities have also indicated that similar initiatives may be expanded in the future to benefit a larger number of students across Punjab. The programme underscores the department’s commitment to empowering government school students and helping them achieve success in higher education and professional careers.
