Rohtak dairy crackdown

The Municipal Corporation (MC) Rohtak has launched a major drive against illegal and non-compliant dairies operating within city limits. As part of the enforcement campaign, authorities imposed fines totaling ₹46,000 on several dairy owners and issued sealing notices to 15 dairy units found violating municipal regulations.

The action was taken following numerous complaints from residents regarding unhygienic conditions, improper disposal of animal waste, foul smell, and encroachment on public spaces. Municipal officials conducted inspections across different areas of the city and found several dairies operating without adhering to prescribed norms. Many units were allegedly contributing to sanitation and environmental problems by allowing cattle waste to flow onto roads and into drains.

During the inspection drive, officials identified multiple violations, including unauthorized operations in residential areas, lack of proper waste management systems, and failure to maintain cleanliness standards. The Municipal Corporation subsequently imposed penalties on the offenders and warned that stricter action would follow if corrective measures were not taken immediately.

Fifteen dairy units were served notices informing them that their premises could be sealed if they failed to comply with municipal guidelines within the stipulated time. Officials stated that the drive is part of the corporation’s broader effort to improve urban sanitation, public health, and environmental conditions in Rohtak.

Municipal authorities have urged dairy operators to shift their establishments to designated zones and adopt scientific waste disposal practices. The corporation also appealed to residents to report any illegal dairy operations causing inconvenience in their neighborhoods.

The crackdown reflects the administration’s commitment to maintaining cleanliness and ensuring that commercial activities do not adversely affect the quality of life of city residents. Further inspection drives are expected in the coming weeks.
