Union Minister Bandi Sanjay’s Son Surrenders in POCSO Case After Court Relief Denied

A major political controversy unfolded in Telangana after Bandi Bhagirath, son of Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar, surrendered before the police in connection with a POCSO case involving allegations of sexual assault.

The development came shortly after the Telangana High Court reportedly declined to grant him interim protection from arrest. Following the court’s decision, Bhagirath appeared before investigators and was subsequently taken into custody for questioning.

The case was registered after a complaint was filed by a minor girl, who accused him of sexual exploitation and misconduct. Based on the complaint and preliminary investigation, police invoked provisions under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act along with other relevant sections.

According to reports, investigators later added stricter charges as the inquiry progressed, making the case more serious from a legal standpoint.

Speaking to the media, Union Minister Bandi Sanjay stated that the law must apply equally to everyone and said his son would cooperate fully with the investigation. However, the case has quickly become politically sensitive, with opposition parties questioning whether authorities initially delayed strong action because of the accused’s political background.

The controversy has also triggered intense debate online, with many users demanding a transparent and unbiased investigation regardless of political influence.

Meanwhile, Bhagirath’s family has strongly denied the allegations. Family members reportedly described the case as an attempt to extort money and claimed it was part of a “honey-trap” conspiracy. However, police officials have not officially endorsed either side’s claims and say the investigation is still underway.

The case is now drawing significant public and political attention in Telangana, and further developments are expected after police interrogation and upcoming court proceedings.
